Knafs Green Ultra Fine Strop Compound is made for the final stages of knife maintenance, helping refine and polish an already-sharpened edge on a leather strop.

Made in the USA by Formax Manufacturing, the compound uses chromium oxide and aluminum oxide abrasives in a solid bar that's easy to apply. Simply rub a light coating onto your strop, then use alternating edge-trailing passes to refine the knife's edge.

Each bar weighs approximately 1 ounce, giving you considerably more compound than the little sample included with Knafs strops.

Why We Like It

Sharpening gets the knife sharp.

Stropping is where you start chasing that “ohhhh, that's nice” edge.

A little compound goes a long way, and this 1-ounce bar gives you plenty for refreshing your strop whenever it starts looking hungry.

Also, Knafs calls the sample-sized compound that comes with their strops “the peanut,” and we're certainly not going to improve upon that terminology.

How to Use

Apply a light coat of compound to your leather strop. Place the knife at approximately the same angle as the sharpened edge and draw the blade backward, away from the cutting edge, using light pressure.

Work from heel to tip, alternating sides for approximately 7–10 passes per side.

Stropping is an edge-trailing process—don't push the cutting edge forward into the leather.
